Hey you all.. i trust everyone is having a great start of a new week!! So this post was meant for yesterday (sunday) but am only catching a break from all my numerous activities and so here we go.. 🙂
In Nairobi, there are not alot of places one can eat Nigerian (real Nigerian/west african food).. The number of restaurants that cater for the food needs of Nigerians are just a handful. MAMA ASHANTI is a restaurant/chill out spot located in LAVINGTON of Nairobi. They make all kinds of Nigerian dishes and we got to order from there yesterday.. although i had eaten their food severally (which tasted GREAT!!!!)… This time was just *takes deep breath*.. it was not so great..i did take a few pictures while we waited for our food though:
So or order consisted of:
-Egusi soup with Goat meat and pounded yam…
-Egusi soup with Tillapia Fish and poundo yam (for my aunt)
-Okra Soup with Goat mea and pounded yam
-Jollof Rice with peppered Stew (the pepper was crazy hot)
-Fried Rice.. fried with chicken and vegetables (it was YUMM)
-Cat Fish Pepper Soup
…..So at the end of the day, they forgot to include my order which they later delivered to us at home for free!!
The food wasn’t the best honestly.. egusi had so much oil and i didn’t get the “naija egusi” feel i would normally get at home.. It was empty, just egusi and goat meat and we all know Nigerians like “orisirisi” in their soup.. I didn’t enjoy my food at all!!!
Their food was quite expensive also and of course i can understand that.. Nigerians in Kenya will still buy no matter the amount because i mean EAST OR WEST, HOME IS BEST!!!
Afterwards, we had Chapman which was very much average!!! Their staffs were super friendly and great company while we waited for our food so yeah!! LOL
